Posted by Manny Miami on 19th Jul 2015

Three people had to be rescued from an airboat after it became stranded the thick of the Florida Everglades while taking an Everglades tour just today, Sunday afternoon.

A Broward Sheriff's rescue helicopter was scrambled a search and rescue mission after having received a distressed call for assistance. The rescue mission was described as trying to find a needle in a haystack. Rescuers flew multiple passengers simultaneously to Interstate 75 where eastbound traffic on Alligator Alley near mile marker 45 was temporarily shut down.

The rescue incident was a result of low water levels due to above average arid and dry environmental conditions.
